Massage therapy
Massage therapy contains a number of massage techniques which share a certain number of principles and methods. Their objectives are to facilitate muscle relaxation, elimination of toxins, functioning of the vital organs and increasing blood and lymphatic circulation.
The Swedish massage is performed with the use of oil. The objectives are to generate a good muscle relaxation and facilitate improvement in the range of motion. It also aims to reduce stress by calming the nervous system, improving blood circulation and improving skin flexibility.
The preparatory sports massage is a massage often performed without oil. Its goals are to increase the oxygenation and the nutrition of tissues, create hyperaemia, increase soft tissue flexibility, prevent or loosen scar tissue and decrease muscle spasm. This massage is given the same day as the competition and never lasts more then 30 minutes.
The recovery soft tissue massage is performed with oil. Its objectives are to decrease the accumulation of metabolic waste resulting from muscle overexertion and fatigue, to prevent injuries, to increase speed of recovery, to decrease muscle soreness, to regain muscle flexibility, to reduce spasm and finally to allow a relaxation period.
